The mysterious movements of the billowing curtains turn out to be mixture of melancholy and desire, but at the same time they point to a possible focus on the deconstruction of expectations and attributions of identity. This misleading of the viewer, the way the artist works with reversal and mirroring, with illusions and the “filmic” depiction of genre scenes, also reveal her love of puzzle pictures and meanings that can slip into their opposite.
